Ten Things That Guarantee Failure In The Annuity Seminar Business
March 6th, 2008 by admin
Senior seminars are a very efficient method to obtain prospects. It is easy to fail at this business and if you do not have a plan or a road map you have almost no chance of succeeding. If you do not have a plan, your seminar can and will fail. Most seminar “marketers” will tell you how to do it, it is just as important to know what not to do. Here are 10 tips of What Not To Do!
1. Don’t keep up. Things change and if you do not make yourself aware of trends and changes you will quickly be out of date and out of business.
2. Worry about a poor showing. You must look at the seminar business long term and you will have bad turn-outs and bad seminars. Forget it and move on.
3. Be an expert on everything! Huge mistake and no one expects you to be one. Be who you are and nothing more.
4. Do not keep records. Record keeping is essential because it allows you to use the data to run your business better.
5. Only sell the big cases! Nothing will get you out of the business quicker than focusing on the “big” cases. See all attendees and do not pre-judge anyone.
6. Do not have a budget! If you do not watch the pennies you will lose the dollars. Always know what your cost per attendee is.
7. Take on an investor. Never ever take on a financial partner. Always do it yourself and never sell your future.
8. Close on the first appointment. Want to get out of the business fast, sell fast. Want to last a long time, sell slow.
9. Ignore how the system works. Always try and re-invent what has worked and you will be out of work. Build on others and use systems that have had success. Do not be an inventor, be an enlarger.
10. Expand too quickly. Everything has to be in balance and needs to stay in balance. Never expand more than you can handle either work wise, health wise or money wise. Build carefully and with a road map.
These 10 mistakes will cause you to fail in the seminar business. The very best advice I can provide you is this. Follow a business and marketing plan and look long term. This business is about numbers and seeing the people. Do not stray from that advice.
