Advent Wreath

February 8th, 2008 by admin

An Advent wreath is a ring with four candles used by some Christians and churches to mark the passing of the holy season of Advent.

The candles are illuminated in succession on each of the four weeks (Saturday evenings or Sundays) of Advent. Some Advent wreaths have a fifth candle which is lit on Christmas Day to signify Christ’s birth. Advent wreaths are symbolic:

- The wreath represents God’s eternity.

- The first candle, known as “The Prophet’s Candle” signifies the hope of Jesus’ arrival.

This Does Not Happen Often - But It Does Happen

February 6th, 2008 by admin

In the New Testament book of Acts at Chapter 18 and verse 9, we read of how serious the situation was in Paul’s life. He is a strong man of God and yet he is being so sorely and severely tested that he can almost take no more, and the risen and living Lord Jesus Christ intervenes.

Now this does NOT happen often, but only when absolutely essential.

“The Will of God will never place you, where the Grace of God cannot keep you.”

He is in the sinful seaport of Corinth in Greece and the circumstances are dire.

Searchlights & Spiritual Shark Attacks - Part 1

February 4th, 2008 by admin

In case you haven’t noticed - we’re not in Kansas anymore Toto! The Garden of Eden is long gone, and there’s something deep inside us that really resents that.

All of us, without fail, have experienced the pain of failure, rejection, abandonment, and betrayal. We’ve been “missed”, unappreciated, misjudged, and abused in one form or another. Our hearts have been stomped on in countless creative ways, and if we let it, those wounds can and WILL color our perspective and absolutely BLOCK US from becoming the person we were meant to be, living the life we were meant to live, fulfilling our dreams, and walking out our full potential. And something in us at a subconscious level is really ticked off about that because that’s NOT the way life was supposed to be! We were made for a life of eternity in the Garden.

Women And Wealth During Jesus Era

January 29th, 2008 by admin

The scriptures record the story of women who supported the earthly ministry of Jesus. A lot of us do not stop for a minute to think of how Jesus ministry was supported as he travelled from place to place but the scriptures do give us an insight into how His ministry was funded. This is recorded in Luke 8:1-3.

1 Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, 2 and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities-Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, 3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance. Luke 8:1-3
